Mission Statement
The PFBL Scholarship Fund Inc. was established in 2006 to motivate and enable low-income youths, who would be the first generation in their families bound for college, to pursue their dreams of higher education.
About This Cause
The Fund fulfills this mission by awarding college scholarships to deserving high school students graduating from a high school in the New York City metropolitan area. On an annual basis, the PFBL Scholarship Fund, Inc. works cooperatively with the high schools’ college advisors/guidance counselors to select the students chosen for the award. Each student must be recommended for the scholarship by the college advisors/guidance counselor and must demonstrate a financial need. The Fund raises financial resources for these scholarships from private donations, fund-raising community events and corporate sponsorship. Because of the Fund’s activities of promoting its scholarships in the community and awarding those scholarships to deserving students, the Fund has a motivational impact beyond the immediate scholarship recipients. To date the PFBL Scholarship Fund, Inc has awarded $180,500.00 to 361 New York City metropolitan area high school graduates.
