Mission Statement
The mission of the Helping Hands Health and Wellness Center is to be the caring hands of Jesus to provide medical care, health education, counseling and social services to those with needs.
About This Cause
Helping Hands Health and Wellness Center is a free medical clinic that serves medically uninsured and underinsured adults whose income is at or below 400 percent of the federal poverty guidelines. The clinic runs two programs with a small team of four part-time staff and a budget of $285,000. Its first program, the Women’s Health Program, runs on Mondays and provides appropriate cancer screenings to underserved women. The program offers free pap tests, pelvic exams, and clinical breast exams to the clinic’s uninsured and underinsured patients. The clinic’s second program is its signature program. The Free Care Program runs on Tuesdays and Thursdays and all the services offered during the Free Care Program are no cost to the patients. The Free Care Program provides Family Medicine and Social Services care; other services are also offered based on volunteer availability. Because Helping Hands Health and Wellness Center has a small staff, the organization utilizes many volunteers to accomplish its mission. These volunteers include doctors, nurses, pharmacists, registration coordinators, and many others.
