Mission Statement
Global Family & the Daughter Project exists to protect children and preserve families in at risk situations in Bakersfield, CA and around the world. Current projects are located in the USA, Canada, India, Nepal, Myanmar and El Salvador.
About This Cause
Global Family utilizes a volunteer driven and asset based approach to the issue of child vulnerability and family disintegration. We consider the need for awareness education, economic development, rescue intervention, and long-term care of at risk children. We work with local authorities, community based organizations, and volunteers to prevent and intercept the spread of trafficking and restore young girls back to their families. Our victim centered approach is focused upon restoring children to their families and protecting families that are in danger of disintegration. To date we have: - educated 68,116 children and adults about the risks of trafficking and girl child sexual abuse - 239 Global Team members - launched 11 Daughter Project shelters for girls who have been rescued from traffickers and systematic abuse - restored 1,178 children back with their families - recovered $129,870 USD from exploiters (In India, the court awards payment for labor forced upon young victims, these funds are given back to the families as exploiters are prosecuted) - accrued 53,264 volunteer service hours - cared for 648 daughters in our shelters Please visit myglobalfamily.org, daughterproject.org and directgood.org to learn more about what we do!
