HILLEL THE FOUNDATION FOR JEWISH CAMPUS LIFE

WASHINGTON, District of Columbia, 20001-3724 United States

Mission Statement

Hillel’s mission is to enrich the lives of Jewish students so that they may enrich the Jewish people and the world.

About This Cause

As Hillel prepares to celebrate its 95th year, there is great reason why Hillel remains the single greatest opportunity for the Jewish world to invest in its future. Hillel is in the business of building Jewish life on campus and helping Jewish students assume their place as leaders in the Jewish community. For students, most of whom are living independently for the first time and many of whom have little or no background in Jewish life, Hillel plays an indispensable role in helping them develop a Jewish identity and connect to the Jewish community. While there are other Jewish organizations seeking to engage Jewish college students, Hillel has the greatest reach, consistently engages the most students, and is the only broad-based, “big tent,” pluralistic Jewish organization on campus today, welcoming students from all religious, ideological and family backgrounds across the full spectrum of Jewish life in the 21st century. Hillel understands how to create a robust landscape of inclusion for Jews of all backgrounds, meeting Millennials and the following generation, Gen Z, where they are. As the largest Jewish campus organization, with a network of more than 550 campuses, Hillel has the unique opportunity to engage the next generation of students at a time when they are exploring and defining who they will be in the world.
