Say Ah! is the only consumer-led health literacy organization in the U.S. that helps people manage their health in the face of our overwhelming health care system.
About This Cause
Mission Say Ah! is the only consumer-led organization in the U.S. dedicated to improving health literacy and helping people manage their care in the face of today’s overwhelmingly complex health care system. Our Work Say Ah! educates and empowers patients and consumers by providing skills-based health literacy trainings, curricula and materials; trains professionals in health literacy best practices; provides plain language and accessible design services to HMOs, health systems, and other businesses; partners with health and community service professionals to improve the health literacy of their clients, patients and consumers; and advocates on behalf of the millions of Americans who struggle to understand their health. Impact Say Ah! has provided trainings to over 7500 professionals, patients, caregivers and consumers for more than 50 host organizations in the greater New York area and Philadelphia. Host organizations include: Meals on Wheels, Head Start, New York State Office of Mental Health, New York University Langone Medical Center, New York-Presbyterian Hospital, Ramapo Catskill Library System, New York Public Library, University of Pennsylvania, Americorps, Hudson Guild, SAGE, and Visions, among others. All of the host organizations reported that Say Ah!’s workshops were the first health literacy programming provided on-site to their clients, patients, students and staff.
