NATIONAL DAY LABORER ORGANIZING NETWORK

PASADENA, California, 91105 United States

Mission Statement

NDLON improves the lives of day laborers in the United States. To this end, NDLON works to unify and strengthen its member organizations to be more strategic and effective in their efforts to develop leadership, mobilize, and organize day laborers in order to protect and expand their civil, labor and human rights. NDLON fosters safer, more humane environments for day laborers, both men and women, to earn a living, contribute to society, and integrate into the community.

About This Cause

The National Day Laborer Organizing Network (NDLON) has been working to organize, support, and advocate for day laborers, undocumented immigrants and low-wage workers in the United States. Before Dreamers and other groups emerged as a force within the movement for immigrant rights, day laborers (or jornaleros in Spanish) were the public face of the undocumented community. Although highly visible while seeking and receiving work on street corners, day laborers are routinely stigmatized, dehumanized, and their vast contributions to our country’s social and economic fabric are often rendered invisible. NDLON’s mission has been to alter this reality through dynamic forms of community organizing and cultural production.
