About This Cause
Jewish Family Service of Central New Jersey (JFS) is a non-sectarian health and social service agency that provides individual and family counseling, career counseling, play therapy (for children), programs for children with special needs, and older adult services including: homemaker and home health aides, home visits from Registered Nurses, meals on wheels, personal care transportation, caregiver support, and adult day care. To meet the diverse needs of the community, JFS has established a food pantry and an urban community vegetable garden that engages many volunteers of all ages. Through these programs, we provide food and fresh produce to over 2,500 individuals annually. To make food assistance accessible for everyone, volunteers are coordinated to deliver many of the packages to homebound recipients. JFS is also proud to host the Retired Senior Volunteer Program (RSVP) to match volunteers age 55 and up with meaningful opportunities. Through RSVP, JFS has established connections with many partner sites and volunteer opportunities throughout the county in order to match volunteers. We have successfully recruited 250 volunteers thus far. Combined with our youth volunteers, we have 400 volunteers providing 12,000 hours of service a year.
