Mission Statement
Hospice & Palliative Care provides quality, compassionate end of life care to the terminally ill in Oneida, Herkimer and Eastern Madison Counties.
About This Cause
There is no other organization that provides like services in Oneida, Herkimer or Eastern Madison counties. Hospice care is provided in the patient’s home, wherever the home may be, including their home, the home of a relative or friend, a nursing home, or the Siegenthaler Center, Hospice’s four-bed residence. Hospice is the only New York State licensed health agency that focuses on end-of-life care. Unlike most home health care providers, Hospice recognizes that the patient will not get well and provides comfort and support, rather than a cure. Hospice care is provided by a team of interdisciplinary caregivers including physicians, nurses, social workers, and chaplains. These professionals and specially trained volunteers attend to a wide range of physical, emotional, and spiritual needs. Hospice care focuses on the entire family and educates loved ones about caring for the patient. Hospice & Palliative Care also follows patients for 13 months after the death of the patient.
