Central New York Ronald McDonald House Charities, Inc. creates, identifies and supports programs that directly improve the health and well-being of children in Central New York and Northern Pennsylvania. We demonstrate this by: • operating the Central New York Ronald McDonald House • associating with out-patient and hospital-based programs serving seriously ill children;
About This Cause
For more than three decades Ronald McDonald House Charities of CNY (RMHC of CNY) has been a continuum of care for families whose children are seriously ill or injured. RMHC of CNY works in partnership with Crouse Hospital, SUNY Upstate Medical University and St. Joseph’s Hospital Health Center to be included in the long and short term care plan for these families of neonatal and pediatric patients. The CNY Ronald McDonald House is the only organization of its kind in Central New York and serves a very unique and specific need. Our CNY Ronald McDonald House provides housing for families traveling from at least 15 miles away from the comfort of their own home to ours. Our guest families, whose children are hospitalized with serious illnesses and injuries, receive a home-cooked meal, a warm bed, and a place to relax and rejuvenate. The House is also a haven for families to connect with other families going through the same things they are. This past year the Central New York Ronald McDonald House accommodated more nearly 2000 family members; moms, dads, grandmas, siblings and children receiving medical treatment. These families have come to us from 48 counties across NY State, 45 other US States and numerous foreign countries, to access the best in medical care offered here in Syracuse. We ask $25 per family per night which includes lodging, home cooked meals, parking, and key amenities. We are able to save our families approximately $1.6 million over the course of a year, a savings of $300 per day, per family of four in comparison to what they would pay for meals and hotels if they didn’t have the House and its services. No family is ever turned away due to inability to pay.
