Mission Statement
The mission of the Meriden Soup Kitchen is to feed the hungry of the greater Meriden area without regard to any form of discrimination, serving its clients with dignity and respect.
About This Cause
The Meriden Soup Kitchen serves lunch to its clients M-F from 11-12:30. We feed whomever shows up at our doors, no questions asked. Our daily census can vary between 115-180, depending on the day or the week or the date in any given month. In addition to a hot meal, which consists of a protein, starch, fruit or vegetable, and a beverage, we usually present a "goodie bag" to each client. This bag of extras might contain a dessert, a snack, a fruit and bread. For the past 3 years the Soup Kitchen has been a "grab and go" site, due to the Covid pandemic. Consequently, our expenses have been high due to the paper goods we have had to purchase for our take out meals. However, we are preparing to open for inside dining on March 6th, 2023. Any donations we receive prior to that reopening are being used to enhance our site in anticipation of reopening and to purchase whatever we need to become an in-house dining site again.
