Mission Statement
Friends of the Metuchen Library is a non-profit corporation that supports programming and acquisitions at the Metuchen Library, and works to interest the public in library holdings and programming. We are a 501(c)3 corporation, able to raise money and make purchases. We work closely with the Metuchen Library to help them offer enhanced programming and materials to patrons.
About This Cause
What We Do Each year, we give a cash gift to the Library to support programming, equipment and much more. We operate the ongoing sale of low-cost books in the lobby, and the Annual Book Fair. We provided the current lobby furniture and some of the rolling carts. In short, we do whatever is most helpful to the Library. Our History Friends of the Metuchen Library was initially a club in the late 1970s, but incorporated in 1987 under the definition of Section 501(c)(3) of the Internal Revenue Code of 1986. This has allowed Friends of the Metuchen Library to be a powerhouse of fundraising nearly unsurpassed in Middlesex County. We’ve given the Library over $300,000 since our incorporation. Board of Directors Our Board of Directors consists of 9 members that are elected for staggered 2-year terms. The Board is supported by volunteers who are not officers, but attend board meetings and offer specializes support. The public is welcome to attend our Board Meetings. Click here to learn more
