Mission Statement
The New Jersey Performing Arts Center, by celebrating diversity, aspires to be America’s foremost urban presenter of arts and entertainment, a creative and effective leader in arts education for children, a convener of useful and enlightening civic engagement events, and a key driver of development in its home city of Newark.
About This Cause
Now in its 19th Season, NJPAC is the State’s anchor cultural institution and the largest provider of arts education in New Jersey. Since opening in 1997, nearly 9 million patrons have experienced performances at NJPAC. Our world-class venues include the grand Prudential Hall (2,840 seats), the intimate Victoria Theater (514 seats), the cabaret-style Chase Room (225 seats), the versatile Black Box Theater (70 seats) and the three-acre outdoor Theater Square, as well as several private event spaces. The residents of Newark are greatly represented among the 400,000 people who attend performances and events as well as the more than 60,000 children, families and educators who participate in our Arts Education programs each year. NJPAC works hard to make all members of the NJ community feel welcome at the Arts Center, and our efforts continue to pay off. NJPAC’s overall audience is approximately 57% Caucasian, 28% African-American, 11% Hispanic/Latino, 2% Asian Islander, and 2% for other origins. Approximately 2% of our audience is disabled.
