Mission Statement
CSS helps schools become places where students want to be. We partner with schools in three areas: developing all students into leaders; empowering teachers to collaborate with each other and with students; and engaging entire school communities to improve how learning happens.
About This Cause
CSS has a more than 40-year history of helping schools across the country become safer and more supportive, engaging, and inspiring. CSS currently serves 50,000 students annually by partnering with schools in 14 states and the District of Columbia in the implementation of our evidence-based social and emotional learning programs. A majority of our school partners implement Peer Group Connection (PGC), a student-lead peer mentoring program that supports students’ successful transitions into middle school and high school. Additionally, as the lead community partner to 23 community schools in NYC and Jersey City, CSS works intensively with partner schools to close academic and opportunity gaps in schools through implementing CSS programming as well as providing comprehensive supports for the community, which includes mental health, medical and social services, among other resources.
