Habitat for Humanity brings people together to build homes, communities, and hope. Our vision is a world where everyone has a decent place to live. Raritan Valley Habitat for Humanity (RVHFH) is committed to achieving that goal in Somerset and Hunterdon Counties in NJ.
About This Cause
Raritan Valley Habitat for Humanity partners with low- and moderate-income residents and community volunteers to build, rehabilitate and repair homes. This partnership approach to home building strengthens the community as volunteers work together with future homeowners and their families. These families invest hundreds of hours building their homes with volunteers. Hope is built because the family knows they are on the path to escaping high monthly rent and substandard living conditions. The affordable mortgage extended by RVHFH, based on the family's ability to pay, reduces housing expenses and allows the family to take care of their health, save for their children's future education, and improve their overall quality of life. Children growing up in Habitat homes develop a strong desire to give back to their communities. RVHFH's home repair program helps local low- and moderate-income individuals and families remain safe in their homes. RVHFH organizes community volunteers to perform critical home repairs and aging-in-place modifications such as a ramp or porch railing. Some of these repairs or home modifications make the difference between being able to live independently at home vs. having to move.
