Mission Statement

The ICSEE organizes people in East Africa to work together to improve life and create an environment based as much as possible on the use of renewable energy. We create a sustainable commitment to collaboration among the people to work for that better life.

About This Cause

The ICSEE is a US 501(c)(3) non-profit corporation. It is a Massachusetts Corporations registered in Maryland as well. The ICSEE was founded in 1992 by Robert Lange, a theoretical physicist with a ph.d. from Harvard University. He founded it tp be able to help the Zanzibar Women's Corporation raise money that would help them drill wells and start businesses to benefit the people of Zanzibar. When he was shown the terrible living conditions of the Maasai people in north central Tanzania, he began working on creating a smoke-removing and efficient chimney stove for their homes. the ICSEE employs local people exclusively and now works in many sectors including bringing solar powered electricity to the Maasai family settlements, building with the people chlorination systems at the edges of their polluted water sources, producing cow food from industrial waste to show the cattlemen new approaches to cattle management as climate is changing, organizing women into groups to establish livestock fattening businesses once only in the scope of men's activities.
