Mission Statement
Camp Sunshine & Camp Snowflake are Recreational Day Activity and Therapeutic Centers for the Developmentally Disabled located at 1133 East Ridgewood Avenue, (Wild Duck Pond) Ridgewood, New Jersey. A place in the sun should be a birthright. To the developmentally disabled, all too often, it is an impossible dream. Camp Sunshine & Camp Snowflake began in 1960. The camps provide recreational, therapeutic activities for the developmentally disabled while providing a respite for their families. They are given swimming instructions by certified water safety instructors. Their fine motor skills are challenged daily in the arts and crafts and adaptive games they participate in on a daily basis. Camp is very unique in that it provides one-on-one assistance for each camper. A volunteer counsellor assists in the daily activities and tasks, such as feeding and changing. Camp Sunshine & Camp Snowflake charge very minimal fees and no family is turned away because of their inability to pay. The camps do not discriminate in admission, employment or administration of its policies on the basis of race, religion, sex, color, creed, national origin or disability.
