Mission Statement
Court Appointed Special Advocates for Children (CASA of NJ), established in 2000, provides a voice for abused and neglected children placed in foster care by empowering a statewide network of county-based CASA volunteers to speak up for the best interests of these children in Family Court.
About This Cause
Thousands of children in New Jersey -- victims of abuse and neglect -- are removed from their homes and thrust into foster care each year. In an instant, everything and everyone these children have known is taken from them. Many struggle in school and suffer from medical and behavioral health problems. The longer they remain in limbo, the more hope fades. Everyday people known as CASA volunteers give hope to children in foster care by getting to know them and everyone important in their lives. They make life-changing recommendations to Family Court judges about children's safety, permanency, and well-being. They advocate for services children need to develop and thrive, and they help speed the process to a loving, permanent home.
