Mission Statement

The Westfield Volunteer Rescue Squad is the emergency medical service agency for the town of Westfield, NJ. We have served the town of Westfield, NJ since October 1, 1952, over 70 years of service. We currently staff 3 ambulances, 550, 551, and 552, as well as one EMS special operations & support vehicle, 553. We are an all-volunteer agency, providing our services free of charge 24 hours a day, 7 days a week, and 365 days a year. We do not bill for our services. We are supported completely by tax-deductible donations. We are within 10 minutes to one of 3 local hospitals, Overlook Medical Center, JFK University Medical Center, and RWJ University Hospital Rahway. We are within 15 minutes from 2 trauma centers, University (UMDNJ Newark) and Morristown Medical Center. While we are independent of the town government, we work in conjunction with both the Westfield Police Department (WPD) and Westfield Fire Department (WFD). We also work closely with Paramedics from various hospitals should the need arise.
