Sunday Breakfast Rescue Mission

Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, 19107 United States

Mission Statement

Philly House, formerly Sunday Breakfast Association of Philadelphia, was founded in 1878. We exist to provide a safe, warm and welcoming place for individuals who are unhoused. We provide up to 150 beds each night and three nutritious meals a day seven days a week to any individual who needs a meal.

About This Cause

With over 145 years of experience, we are the second oldest homeless mission in the country and the oldest in Pennsylvania, housing some 150 men each night. More than just a meal and a bed, we build relationships with our guests to give them hope and reorient their lives. Our goal is to provide a safe and secure place for men who have been on the streets for any length of time, an opportunity to self direct their recovery plan. Expert in the various services available in Philadelphia, we work with each man to understand specifically what they need -- government-issued ID, birth certificate, employment, housing, job training, health diagnosis, recovery from addiction, social security disability -- whatever each man needs, we develop a plan for return to health, housing and work when possible. Once the plan is developed, we help men navigate the various systems and processes to help them successfully get what they need.
