Mission Statement

The Arc of Chester County's mission is to advocate, educate and provide services to empower individuals with disabilities and their families to enhance the qualify of their lives.

About This Cause

The Arc provides a lifetime of services from infants to older adults. Infants receive individual care in their own homes from the Arc's early intervention program which serves children with developmental delays. Preschoolers transition from home to classroom learning in the Arc's adaptive structured environment that enables them to acquire the social and behavioral skills needed to access a more typical educational setting. Medically fragile children benefit from the full time nursing services that enable them to attend classroom programs. School age children and teens build friendships while learning social and recreational skills through community-based activities. Adults have help preparing for everyday life experiences in programs designed for recreation, independent living skills, and community employment. They receive tools for independence through home and community based life skills training. Older adults receive help facing life-stage adjustments, such as increased concern for their health and well-being. Families find the information and support they need to ensure the rights of their loved ones with disabilities are maintained. Additionally, they find professionals who help them navigate the educational and social service systems and make them work effectively. The community benefits when The Arc collaborates with elected officials at all levels of government to ensure public policy and funding address disability issues within community settings.
