Mission Statement
The WEST CHESTER AREA DAY CARE CENTER is a non-profit childcare program that provides a quality, early childhood education program that promotes the development of children emotionally, socially, intellectually, and physically in a safe and nurturing environment. We offer all parents affordable childcare with special emphasis on those with the greatest financial need.
About This Cause
WCADCC engages children in a high quality early learning experience through implementing a developmentally appropriate curriculum in an educational setting for children aged six weeks through Kindergarten operating on a year-round basis Mon-Fri from 6:30 am until 5:30 pm. We also care for school age children from kindergarten through twelve-years-old for before and after school, on half days and days off from school as well as full time during the summer. We address the nutritional needs of every child in our care during these crucial years by providing free, nutritionally balanced meals for all children and formula for our infants. We provide a full breakfast, a full lunch and a snack every single day for every child. We have continued with our strong community partnerships. We achieved the high rating of being a Keystone Star 3 Center! We provide an educational environment, which revolves around meaningful, purposeful, and authentic play experiences. Our pre-school and infant playgrounds are big, interactive outdoor classrooms that include specific, developmentally appropriate equipment. Every child is given the opportunity to utilize the playgrounds twice a day for a minimum of half an hour each time, which gives even our youngest of learners the best possible outdoor experiences! Our multicultural center employs experienced, educated teachers with an extremely low turnover rate. We continue to support our staff in attaining higher educational goals. We provide onsite professional development and have computers available for on-line courses to facilitate continuing education. We ensure that a bilingual staff member is always on the premises to translate and help address the needs of our many Spanish speaking families. Our health tracking system supports families in the important goal of having children receive all required immunizations and a yearly physical. We work closely with all early intervention programs such as The Chester County Intermediate Unit and the therapists work directly with the children, families and teachers to ensure every child is getting his or her specific individual developmental needs met. We incorporate various standardized assessments to help identify early developmental or learning delays. We keep our rates low and reasonable because every child deserves to engage in and have access to high quality educational care. Our Center is located in a prime location where families can walk to us, take public transportation and we are within walking distance to the county offices where families go for subsidized childcare and health programs. Our services are essential to the children of our community to help them achieve their full potential and provide the foundation for children to succeed in school, the workforce, and in their community. Children learn best when they have their nutritional needs met, a trusting atmosphere with consistent teachers, and high quality learning environments that stimulate creativity, curiosity, and the skills they will need to succeed in school and life. We emphasize providing care for low-income families in Chester County and families in need or in financial crisis and have made these our highest priorities for over 55 years.
