Mission Statement
The mission of Miller-Keystone Blood Center is to save lives by partnering with our community to provide a continuous supply of blood products and services.
About This Cause
MKBC was founded in 1971, and is an independent, non-profit, 501(c)(3) community organization, registered with the Pennsylvania and New Jersey Bureaus of Charitable Organizations. MKBC serves as the only blood provider to 29 hospitals in Berks, Bucks, Carbon, Columbia, Cumberland, Dauphin, Lackawanna, Lehigh, Luzerne, Lycoming, Mifflin, Monroe, Montour, Northampton, and Schuylkill (PA), and Hunterdon, Mercer, and Warren (NJ) counties. All the blood transfused at these facilities is donated through HCSC Blood Center DBA Miller-Keystone Blood Center recruits, collects, processes, tests, and distributes over 100,000 blood products annually to include: units of red blood cells to treat trauma, bleeding, cancer, and blood disorders such as sickle cell disease; plasma for burn and trauma victims, and patients with bleeding and immune system disorders; and platelets for burn and accident victims and to treat patients with cancer, heart surgery, organ transplants, and bone marrow transplants.
