About This Cause

For over 35 years, the Samaritan Center’s mission has been to foster hope and healing through professional counseling, consultation, and education while respecting and integrating personal and spiritual values. We currently have offices in Lancaster County and downtown Lancaster city. We believe that healing is an integrated process that encompasses mind, body, spirit, and community. Our multi-disciplinary team includes professionals with medical, educational, clinical, business, and pastoral experience. Samaritan strives to ensure that quality, professional services are accessible to all people, including those with limited financial resources. To ensure access to services, Samaritan provides funding for clients who need assistance and provides outreach services to help more people in need. Samaritan’s core business is counseling, consultation, and education. Samaritan provides services throughout Lancaster through a multi-disciplinary staff including psychologists, neuropsychologists, licensed clinical social workers, and licensed professional counselors. The Center respects and integrates spiritual values into the services provided for clients who desire a spiritually aware treatment approach. The Samaritan Center provides quality, professional counseling services supporting adults, children and adolescents, couples and families dealing with issues such as stress, depression, anxiety, abuse, trauma, job loss, faith issues, eating disorders, conflict resolution, sexual abuse, and anger management. Samaritan has partnerships with 39 churches of 11 different denominations and also collaborates with many other organizations. Additionally, Samaritan provides consultation and education on a wide range of issues for businesses, organizations, churches, and clergy. Samaritan offers other education and consultation services including Ministry Assessment, Premarital Consultation, Coaching, and more. An integral part of the mission of the Samaritan Center is to provide outreach services to the most vulnerable in our community. Samaritan’s outreach to local faith communities is through the Clergy and Congregation Care program. The mission of this program is to provide clergy, congregations, and judicatories with resources for developing and sustaining effective and transformative ministries. Samaritan’s outreach to local schools is through our TeenHope program. The Center plans to expand our proven teen-screening program in Lancaster County schools that works to identify students struggling with depression, anxiety, and suicidal thoughts, and increases mental health awareness and education. Samaritan collaborates with other organizations that are working to prevent teen suicide and endeavors to ensure that at-risk teens are confidentially referred to a mental health provider for treatment. Samaritan is fully accredited by The Solihten Institute of Denver, Colorado, which ensures that Samaritan’s services meet the highest professional and ethical standards. Solihten connects and accredits nearly 50 centers across the country to better integrate mind, body, spirit, and community into every aspect of health. Samaritan is audited for compliance to these standards every four years. As a participant in this network of centers, Samaritan shares information about emerging community mental health needs, programs, and services effectively meeting those needs.
