About Valley Forge Educational Services Valley Forge Educational Services offers a continuum of educational, summer and employment-related programs for individuals with disabilities. The hallmark of our programs is our collaborative and holistic approach to each child, adolescent and adult, recognizing his or her unique abilities and needs through team efforts. Individuals of all ages come to learn, share, appreciate and respect one another while developing skills necessary for success. We are committed to helping students and participants develop a strong sense of self-worth to realize their value as contributing members of their communities. www.vfes.net About The Vanguard School The Vanguard School is an Approved Private School providing programs for and licensed to accept students, 4–21 years of age, with a Pennsylvania Department of Special Education exceptionality of autism, speech-language disorders, emotional disturbance and/or other health impairment (OHI). Students who experience developmental disabilities, learning differences or social-emotional or behavioral difficulties are also eligible for our program. The Vanguard School provides comprehensive special education and related clinical services with a unique focus on the individual student and his or her readiness for life. The Vanguard School offers an integrated academic, social and daily living skills approach within a supportive environment where the goal is for each student to become a contributing member of the community. A team of therapists support students in the classroom, individually and in small groups as well as through consultative efforts. Related clinical services include speech-language, occupational and physical therapies, school psychology, school counseling, behavior support and nursing. All therapists and specialists have the advantage of being actively involved in the student’s entire day; our clinicians are able to co-treat across disciplines and consult with teachers and other professionals on a regular basis. www.vanguardschool-pa.org About The Vanguard Transition Center The Vanguard Transition Center (VTC) offers post-secondary education, career preparation and social and daily living skills development to young adults, 18–21 years of age, with a Pennsylvania Department of Special Education exceptionality of autism, speech-language disorders, emotional disturbance and/or other health impairment (OHI). Students who experience developmental disabilities, learning differences or social-emotional or behavioral difficulties are also eligible for our program. As part of The Vanguard School, students receive continuing education, counseling, self-advocacy training as well as career exploration and community-based vocational experience. Evidence-based instruction in math, language arts, daily living skills, employment skills, current events, healthy lifestyles and human social development are offered to all students along with community-based activities and recreational opportunities. www.vfes.net/vtc About Summer Matters Summer Matters offers educational and recreational programming for young people, 4–24 years of age, with special needs and learning challenges. Summer Matters programs vary in purpose, format and length and build on participants’ interests to help them succeed, learn and grow. From the development of social and daily living skills to experiencing opportunities to have fun and make new friends, Summer Matters programs maximize each participant’s potential. • Summer L.I.F.E. offers an array of day and overnight camp options as well as summer and school-year travel excursions. Programs are designed for campers, 10–21+years of age, experiencing social challenges. • Extended School Year (ESY) at The Vanguard School offers students, 4–17 years of age, a morning academic program with intensive small-group instruction and a low student-to-staff ratio. The morning program includes school counseling, behavior support and speech-language, occupational and physical therapies. Afternoons offer structured social and leisure activities. • ESY Career Prep Academy is a part-time ESY program designed for high school students who may not have specific academic goals or related service needs. The Academy combines small-group career preparation, financial literacy, customer service, peer interactions, career education and executive function skill building. • The Vanguard Transition Center Summer Experience is an ESY program for young adults, 18–21 years of age. This unique program offers the transition-aged population their own ESY program with an emphasis on maintaining vocational and daily living skills. This program includes a week-long independent residency at a local university. • The Vocational Immersion Program (VIP) equips young adults with developmental disabilities, including autism spectrum disorder and related social challenges, 18–24 years of age, with key social and employment-readiness skills through a four-week intensive program that includes classroom-based instruction, online learning, workplace internships with job coaches and a week-long supported living experience. www.summermatters.org Customized Workforce Solutions (CWS) Customized Workforce Solutions (CWS), a program of Valley Forge Educational Services, provides employment-related services to adults with disabilities. CWS offers person-centered support and training to help individuals with disabilities attain their employment goals. CWS works with adults to define their goals, understand their skills and discover their vocational interests and work preferences. Additionally, CWS develops and maintains mutually beneficial employment relationships between employees and employers. Services provide adults with disabilities the customized opportunities and individualized supports necessary to discover career interests and maintain competitive, integrated employment in their home community. Services are provided on both a short-term and long-term basis, depending on each individual's needs and preferences.
