Mission Statement
We are an independent, nonsectarian school for boys and girls in pre-kindergarten through fifth grade. Located in Seattle’s Madrona neighborhood, we strive for inclusion of all families and welcome the gifts that diversity brings to our school. Epiphany School, Seattle, WA Confident, curious, courageous learners. At its core, the Epiphany School experience is about challenging and caring for children. An Epiphany education provides students with strong academic skills, love of learning, and community participation, as well as a sense of personal responsibility. High expectations and small classes allow for individual attention, which fosters intellectual development and self-confidence. We also want our students to grow in physical and social skills and to develop empathy and awareness of others. Students are taught responsibility for learning and leadership, and they engage in collaborative work and discourse. We pay strong attention to the foundational subjects, and we continuously revise our curriculum to include progressive ideas and topics. Math and literacy specialists bring subject expertise and differentiated instruction to the classroom, and science, physical education, French, Latin, music, and art provide independent classes and integrate with the classrooms. Our renowned Learning Skills specialists provide support in individual and small-group settings, helping every student to thrive. Epiphany School places strong emphasis on the professional development of its teachers and their collaboration to enrich and propel student learning. Epiphany School is divided into two academic clusters: the lower elementary cluster for pre-kindergarten through second grade, and the upper elementary cluster for third through fifth grade. Epiphany students’ success is reflected in the partnership between the school and family. Thus, the school emphasizes communication with parents and parental involvement in the life of the school as fundamental links in the education process.
