Mission Statement

The mission of Lighthouse Youth & Family Services is to empower young people and families to succeed through a continuum of care that promotes healing and growth.

About This Cause

Lighthouse Youth & Family Services (Lighthouse), a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization established in 1969, provides a continuum of services that assists youth (age birth to 24) and families each year in overcoming obstacles and barriers that prevent them from thriving. All Lighthouse services are trauma-informed and utilize a positive youth development framework, meaning that services are designed and implemented with the developmental needs and challenges of youth in mind. Our programs are fully accredited and licensed and respond to the changing needs of our community. Lighthouse is nationally recognized as an innovator in services for families in crisis, for homeless youth and young adults, for youth learning to become self-sufficient, and in foster care for abused or neglected children. Lighthouse’s vision is to be the leader in creating a community where every young person has the opportunity to thrive. At any given time there are over 400 young people in Lighthouse residential care. Last year, the agency served over 3,000 young people and families. Current Programs Include: • Foster Care and Adoption Services, providing treatment and family foster care with over 100 licensed homes. 250 individuals are served per year. • New Beginnings for girls and Youth Development Center for boys, providing Group Homes and Open Residential Treatment for 10-17 year olds. 85 individuals are served per year. • Mecum House, an emergency shelter for runaway and homeless 10-17 year olds.
