Mission Statement
Himalayan Academy is the educational and publishing arm of Kauai’s Hindu Monastery. It was incorporated in the State of Nevada in 1966 and qualified as a 501 (c)3 tax exempt educational organization in 1970. The mission of the Academy is to share the teachings of Sanatana Dharma, as a public service, with Hindus and seekers worldwide.
About This Cause
Himalayan Academy’s educational activities offer guided study of traditional Saiva Siddhanta worship, metaphysics, yoga and meditation practices and spiritual lifestyle. This is accomplished through personalized home-study lessons, mobile apps, classes, lectures and seminars, webinars, retreat programs for children, youth and adults, as well as Innersearch pilgrimages to Hinduism’s holy sites in India and elsewhere for large and small groups. Himalayan Academy Publications is its publishing division. In addition to publishing the Master Course trilogy—Dancing with Siva, Living with Siva and Merging with Siva, which together comprise 50 years of Gurudeva, Sivaya Subramuniyaswami’s teachings—it accomplishes this goal through its many other books and pamphlets, its award-winning international quarterly magazine Hinduism Today, its extensive website, where all its publications are available to read or download for free, Apple and Google mobile apps and various study aids. The publications and other resources, many of which are applicable to all denominations of Hinduism, are freely offered for use by all Hindu communities, with the aim of encouraging and empowering them to foster and train individuals as teachers, public speakers and in other educational outreach capacities.
