About This Cause
Vocal Revolution (VR) is a 501 c 3 not-for-profit chorus whose mission is "moving audiences and enriching lives through musical excellence". Founded in February of 1970, Vocal Revolution is the Concord, MA (K-025) Chapter of the Barbershop Harmony Society (BHS), or SPEBSQSA, Inc., an international organization dedicated to preserving the barbershop style of singing in four-part a cappella harmony." Our performing members hail from all over New England and beyond. We are the highest-ranking chorus in the Northeastern District (NED) of the BHS, with 28 District Championship titles. VR is a dues-paying organization that includes students, professional engineers, doctors, and lawyers to mention a few. We are also WGBH's Sing That Thing Season 2 Adult Category and Overall Champions. About This Cause As said earlier Vocal Revolution is a chapter of the Barbershop Harmony Society (SPEBSQSA, Inc.), an International organization of 21,000 men dedicated to preserving the barbershop style of singing in four-part a cappella harmony. We are a group of 50+ men from all walks of life with varying degrees of musical talent and experience and have hearts full of joy, excitement and a passion for singing. Our vision is to be known as the premier male singing organization in The Boston Area. Through performances in the barbershop style, we strive to educate adults and high schoolers about the Barbershop Style, which is itself an original American Art Form. We enrich the lives of our members, men who love to sing, by helping them become the finest performers they can be, both as individuals and as members of an ensemble dedicated to performing excellence. Annually, we educate our members and the general public in music appreciation and our advocacy at all levels of society to keep social singing an important part of the community. Our youth mission includes sponsoring an annual youth festival where we bring close to 75 high school age children together to learn music in the Barbershop style. We hold master classes taught by world class coaches and educate these children to the origins and the techniques of the Barbershop Style.
