Mission Statement

Senior center in Sun Prairie, Wisconsin dedicated to enhancing the well being and independence of older adults in Northeast Dane County Wisconsin. Providing comprehensive social services for older adults, the Colonial Club has been a not for profit organization since 1970.

About This Cause

It was back in 1969 when a group of people in Sun Prairie decided it was time to establish a meeting place for older adults in the community. With the generous support of the Cremer Foundation and multiple businesses and individuals, the Colonial Club Senior Activity Center was born. From an intimate gathering of people sharing coffee and socializing to a scenic senior campus area on Sun Prairie’s east side, the Colonial Club has grown into a multifaceted organization serving people 55 and older throughout Northeast Dane County. Although no one actually lives at the Colonial Club, we are surrounded by a variety of housing options for older adults. As a result, the Colonial Club is an attractive centerpiece for anyone planning for the future. Today’s Colonial Club features services, programs and activities that are intended to keep people interested, entertained, cared for and educated. No longer just a center featuring congregate meals and bingo, the staff, volunteers and senior advisory council strive to create a diverse selection of options for families planning ahead. Some people come to the Colonial Club out of necessity, others come to maintain an active, social lifestyle. Whatever the reasons, it is meant to be a warm and welcoming environment, whether you’re from Sun Prairie or Cottage Grove and whether you’re 55 or 85. Unlike a lot of senior centers, we are an independent 501c3 organization. An all volunteer board of directors, a caring staff and dedicated volunteers work tirelessly to ensure the future of the Colonial Club is a bright one. We rely on financial support from the United Way of Dane County, Dane County Health and Human Services, the City and Town of Sun Prairie as well as from the surrounding communities of Bristol, Burke, Cottage Grove, Marshall and Medina. We also host various special events and receive donations from individuals who share our mission of senior service. The following information will give you just a snapshot of today’s Colonial Club is all about. We invite you to take the time to stop by and see the facility to get a sense of what we’re all about. Providing compassionate care, cooking nutritious meals and organizing activities for over 37 years as a private, independent organization has made the Colonial Club truly one of a kind. Programs, Activities & Services Adult Day Center: Concerned about leaving a loved one alone, but not ready for nursing home care? The Adult Day Center is a cost effective alternative for families needing health care monitoring, personal care, social, and recreational activities for their family member. Each new participant will receive a service plan individually designed for them by staff, their physician and family members. Adult Day Center participants can choose from a wide variety of extended services as well as how often they attend. Adult Day Center hours are Monday through Fridays from 8 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. Supportive Home Care: The Goals of the Supportive Home Care (SHC) program are to enhance and prolong independent living; increase the feeling of security and lessen stress; reduce isolation and increase self-care; and prevent premature nursing home placement. SHC aides can provide numerous services, including, but not limited to bathing, dressing, light housekeeping and meal preparation. Case Management: The purpose of the Case Management program is to assess the needs of older adults and to provide information/referrals and advocacy in the areas of services, benefits, activities, volunteer opportunities and other resources. Participants in the Case Management program will have a confidential, one-on-one meeting with a caring case manager. Whether you need to explore in-home assistance options, caregiving support or one of any number of situations, a Colonial Club case manager will provide compassionate support to anyone in need. Nutrition: Creamy casseroles, comforting soups or roasted chicken, the Colonial Club kitchen whips up tasty meals each day. Unlike lots of places, this food is made on site and served fresh and hot. Evoking memories of Mom’s home-cooked meals, this is a cost effective option in providing a nutritious meal to those who may not have access to one. Activities: While traditional bingo and card games are standard offerings, the Colonial Club also provides the newest in games, such as Wii bowling and other popular activities. Additionally, participants can enjoy group outings to attractions like Door County and Ho-Chunk. As long time supporters of life long learning, we also offer a variety of classes from painting to writing, from computers to quilting, anything you may want to continue your education!
