About This Cause
California Nurses Foundation (CNF) is a nonprofit, founded in 1971, dedicated to charitable, scientific and educational purposes. CNF offers scholarships for ADN and BSN programs, and also provides disaster relief and humanitarian aid through its largest program, the RN Response Network (RNRN.) RNRN is a national network of direct-care RNs that coordinates sending volunteer RNs to disaster-stricken areas where and when they are needed. Founded in the wake of Hurricanes Katrina and Rita in 2005, RNRN cuts through the red tape to deploy RNs and directly utilize their skills. Our volunteer RNs work hand in hand with local allies to provide care and help rebuild communities, long after the cameras are gone. Volunteer RNs deployed through RNRN have cared for thousands of patients during our many deployments, including Hurricanes Katrina and Rita, the 2010 Haiti earthquake, Hurricane Sandy, Super Typhoon Haiyan, and Hurricanes Harvey and Maria. Through its Continuing Promise mission, RNRN partnered with the US Navy in 2010 and again in 2015 to provide community medical and surgical services to patients throughout Central and South America. RNRN also provides ongoing first aid support at events across the country, including the Navajo Nation and Standing Rock Sioux communities in 2016. RNRN deploys and provides support for volunteer nurses when disaster strikes. With RNRN, nurses can focus on providing patient care. RNRN also conducts educational courses examining the RN's unique ability to be the driving force in pressing for universal healthcare and disaster preparedness/response standards.
