Respond Now enhances quality of life in south suburban communities by working to alleviate hunger and prevent homelessness for people at risk.
About This Cause
Respond Now, a staple within the South Suburban Chicagoland community for the past 47 years, began providing services and answering the emergency needs of south suburban Chicago residents 47 years ago. In 1969, a local association of ministers recognized a growing need within the community for emergency food and other necessities beyond what government programs were able to provide. Although we are still a food pantry, we now also provide funds to address many other emergency needs in the south suburbs. Respond Now provides hunger, housing and health services. Specifically, these include homelessness prevention services, housing counseling, a food pantry, SNAP outreach, rent & utilities assistance, supportive housing programming, clothing, toiletries, prescription medication funds, transportation funds, and a community garden.
