To significantly improve the mental health and wellbeing of all members of the community through education, recreation, support, and advocacy.
About This Cause
Irma E. Allen Adult Day Care Center and is dedicated to administering a structured set of activities and services provided to older adults with functional impairments. The PWSC Care Team facilitates an array of planned recreational activities to enhance awareness and self-motivation, promote socialization, slow the progression of existing conditions, and prevent the onset of new conditions. These therapeutic activities are intended to promote, maintain, or enhance the participants’ multiple dimensions of wellness - physical, intellectual, emotional, social, spiritual, and environmental. The Senior Center also facilitates recreational activities to functional participants in a setting that increases physical and mental stimulation, prevents isolation, and promotes socialization. We offer educational opportunities to encourage older adults to utilize available community resources as well as collaborate with community resources to provide opportunities for groups to acquire knowledge, experience, or skills for personal enrichment. Educational topics will include health & wellness, nutrition, community services, technology, skill-building, civic responsibilities, and emergency preparedness.
