Mission Statement

Mission: To substantially increase the number of well-educated young people of color who are capable of assuming positions of responsibility and leadership in American society.

About This Cause

A Better Chance is a national program, found in 28 states around the country. The program works to provide youth of modest means with an opportunity to receive a college preparatory education during high school, to position these young people for success in college and beyond. • Edina A Better Chance Foundation (EABC) was established in 1972 by a group of leaders in the Edina community. • As a chartered member of the national A Better Chance program, EABC brings academically talented youth of color from mostly urban schools around the country to Edina. • EABC scholars are highly motivated students who come from families who value education. • These youth enter the Edina School District as 9th or 10th graders, live in an EABC owned residence, under adult supervision, and go on to graduate from Edina High School. • EABC scholars attend college and universities around the country. • EABC is an entirely self-funded, 501(c)3 nonprofit organization.
