Mission Statement
The Sacramento Life Center compassionately offers judgment-free support, resources, and free medical services to materially and emotionally equip women and families facing an unplanned or unsupported pregnancy to uphold and honor the value of Life.
About This Cause
Founded in 1972, we now serve more than 2,500 women, teens and men each year, most of whom are low-income and suspect they are pregnant. We provide them with free medical care, counseling and wraparound services to ensure all their needs are met. In 2011, we added a Mobile Medical Clinic to our primary clinic to ensure we could meet the needs of those who have barriers to transportation across Sacramento County and Roseville. In 2012, we added free STI testing for Chlamydia and gonorrhea to our list of services, and this year we added a volunteer OB/GYN who provides free well woman exams. In 2014, we will launch our second Mobile Medical Clinic in more rural locations such as rural Yolo County. We also provide free pregnancy tests and ultrasounds, male peer counseling, a school-based teen education program, a 24-hour hotline and post-abortion support for women seeking emotional support. The people we serve are not concerned with politics or religion. They are in the midst of one of the biggest decisions of their lives, and they just want to know what their options are. They want a safe space to make their decision without pressure or proselytizing. Our primary goal is to ensure women, men and teens are fully informed before making a decision about how to handle their pregnancy and to provide a safe place for them to make their decision. We also provide wraparound care to meet the needs of everyone who comes through our doors. We serve everyone regardless of financial standing, ethnicity or religion, and all of our services are free. We receive no government funding. We do not request or require medical insurance, and we do not contribute to political campaigns or ballot initiatives. As one of the longest running pregnancy clinics in the country, the Sacramento Life Center continues to achieve a high success rate while adding new, innovative programs to reach more people in the greater Sacramento area. Last year, 99 percent of women who received services in our clinic said their experience was positive or very positive and that they felt equipped to make an informed decision about their pregnancy or medical need.
