Mission Statement
The Harvest Family Success Center (FSC) provides a welcoming family-friendly environment to all Hunterdon County residents in order to strengthen and empower individuals and families through collaborative family-centered activities educational workshops, and access to resources to acquire knowledge and skills needed to maintain healthy family relationships.
About This Cause
The Harvest Family Success Center serves over 700 Hunterdon County families every year, and many, if not most of these families are hard-working, contributing members of our community who have fallen on hard times due to health issues, under-employment, and loss. The goal of the FSC is to work with every family to assist them in their time of need and to ensure they receive help to be sustainable and productive members of our community. We are very successful in this mission. This all happens at the Family Success Center, a place that is a second home for many of the families we serve, as we help them with life skills that ensure their sustainability. This includes resume development, employability skills, parenting skills, affordable housing, and so much more. Time and again, families tell us how much our support and education has helped them move out of poverty and dependence to a life of hope, happiness and independence. We don’t charge for the service we provide and while we operate with some funding from the State of New Jersey, Department of Children and Families, they only cover only a small part of the community we service. We are funded to service 250 families per year, yet we serve over 700 families annually. Our focus has been to strengthen and empower families since we opened our doors in February 2012. Here are just a few examples of the educational programs we offer: 1. Budgeting programs and Life Skills trainings will continue families on a path of financial stability. We meet individually with families to meet them where they are, and deal with the entire family and help them all come together as a family unit to support one another. 2. The FSC offers positive parenting programs that are multi-week in length to ensure parents have the skills they need to be effective as parents and to have healthy relationships with their children. These programs unify and strengthen the family unit. Examples of these programs include: Mamas Sin Miedos, a Fearless Mom’s program, Beautiful Puzzles, a program for parents of autistic children, and Together Yoga, where parents can bond with their child. We also offer parenting programs throughout the county on important issues such as teen suicide prevention and stress and anxiety management techniques. 3. At times, a parent needs a “helping hand” to get their car repaired to get to work, a gas card to get to the Doctor, a session with a specialist for their child just to name a few reasons families come to us for assistance. These are hard-working families who live paycheck to paycheck who at times need the support of our community to make ends meet. We help these families get the resources they need so urgently in times of crisis. We are knowledgeable of which programs and offerings are available, and by whom, and help these individuals know which program they might be qualified to receive as well as help them apply if necessary. 4. Various youth programs are held that ensure that these children and feel accepted, learn safety, skills, know what to do when being bullied, and so much more. Examples of these programs include: STEM Robotics Club, First Lego League Jr., Girl Scouts, Homework Club, Teen Coffee House, and Girls Empowerment Club. These are some of the initiatives your potential donation would support. I would like to invite you to our Family Success Center to see for yourself the welcoming atmosphere and our dedication to serving our community. Thank you for your consideration.
