Mission Statement
CROW is saving wildlife through state-of-the-art veterinary care, research, education and conservation medicine.
About This Cause
CROW's One World, One Health concept focuses on the interrelatedness of all creatures and the importance of understanding how each impacts the other. The Visitor Education Center offers a unique experience that appeals to all ages. Through interactive exhibits and live camera feeds, guests see what happens in a wildlife hospital and learn why it is important to maintain a balanced eco-system. The state-of-the-art wildlife hospital sees approximately 3,500 patients each year comprised of 61% birds, 31% mammals, 7% reptiles and 1% amphibians. Approximately 33% were returned to nature. Many conservation initiatives including the collaborative "Clean You Gear" as well as research projects are in process. In 2015 research included: Etiology of Pouch Pyoderma in brown pelicans; Incidences of Cyathostoma bronchialis; Cooperatinve; Mappng of the genome of gopher tortoises; On-Island Coyote study; Sequencing healthy versus diseased RNA in loons; and much more.
