Mission Statement

The mission of the Japan-America Society of the State of Washington is to promote mutual understanding and friendship between the peoples of Japan and Washington State by providing a forum for the exchange of ideas and information.

About This Cause

We are a non-profit organization bringing people together in friendship between the peoples of Washington State and Japan. We provide networking and speaker events for business, trade, and cultural activities. Our signature K-12 educational outreach program, Japan-in-the-Schools, sends volunteers and staff into local classrooms to educate students on Japanese culture and language to bring students a cultural experience to grow their world experience. We also maintain a close relationship with key government and private organizations, such as the Consulate-General of Japan and the Japan Business Association of Seattle. The Society was founded on July 24, 1923, by leaders from Seattle’s business, academic, and diplomatic communities and continues to provide places and events that people of all ages can experience.
