Mission Statement
OUR MISSION: The mission of the National Association to Advance Fat Acceptance is to change perceptions of fat and end size discrimination through advocacy, education, and support. OUR VISION: We envision a culture where all fat people are free, celebrated, and liberated from every form of oppression. OUR APPROACH: Fat people exist within every marginalized identity; NAAFA is uniquely positioned to work toward liberation for all. Through education, advocacy and support, NAAFA embodies effective change for individuals, communities and the world. NAAFA uses its influence and reputation to demand strategic improvements in policies and practices that impact fat people.
About This Cause
NAAFA is a mostly volunteer multigenerational organization looking to change the narrative around fatness, fight for fat-rights and increase respect for all people in all bodies. NAAFA will be a powerful force for positive social change. Using our collective will, talents and resources, we will improve the world — not just for fat people, but for everyone. We are committed to adding size diversity to the equation, ensuring all people across the size spectrum are valued and respected. NAAFA endeavors to ensure that diversity and inclusion is intrinsic to our organization, reflecting the values we wish others to apply to their organizations, businesses and institutions. We also want to unite our members and supporters representing all areas of difference by showing our solidarity with diversity in all its forms and our commitment to the understanding of intersectionality in our community.
