Mission Statement
Mission: Our mission is to foster and perpetuate the cultural, social and economic well–being of the Latinos residing in the City and County of Lancaster, and thereby contribute to the general well-being of the community at large.
About This Cause
The Spanish American Civic Association was founded in 1974 by members of the Hispanic community of Lancaster to provide cultural, social and economic support to the growing Latino community. Since its founding, SACA has established a large number of programs to benefit persons with Hispanic backgrounds. These include - Centro Hispano - This human service facility provides case management services to members of the community who are in need of social and financial support. - Marin Senior Center - This senior center provides daily recreational and socialization services to over 90 senior citizens daily as well as a nutritious breakfast and lunch. The program also tends to the health and human service needs of its membership - Tec Centro - This facility, located in the heart of Lancaster city's southeast neighborhood, provides comprehensive and bilingual education, skills training and employment services to unemployed and underemployed members of the community. - Behavioral Health - This component of SACA provides mental health counseling as well as residential and non-residential treatment of drug and alcohol addiction to members of the community. - SACA Development - This subsidiary of SACA provides for the development of affordable housing to members of the community. In its history, it has renovated or constructed over 150 single family homes for resale to first time home buyers. It has also been responsible for the development of over 40,000 square feet of commercial/retail space along the South Duke Street corridor. SACA Broadcasting - This component of SACA provides a 24 hour bilingual public radio station to members of the Hispanic communities in both Lancaster and York. WLCH-FM offers news, public affairs, cultural and entertainment programming to its listeners.
