Mission Statement
The Georgia Trust for Historic Preservation works for the preservation and revitalization of Georgia's diverse historic resources and advocates their appreciation, protection and use.
About This Cause
Chartered on April 12, 1973, the Georgia Trust for Historic Preservation is widely recognized as one of the nation’s leaders in historic preservation. Its primary programs are: Revolving Fund program, which saves historic properties and puts them into hands of owners who commit to their preservation Places in Peril program, an annual list of 10 endangered properties which are nominated locally and receive technical assistance from the Trust until they are saved Sustainability program, which has developed and is in the pilot program stage of the new Earthcraft Sustainable Preservation certification program, the first of its kind in the country Preservation Institute, which helps communities thrive educationally by offering classes on historic property assessment, preservation planning, historic architecture, fundraising, etc. The Trust also operates two historic house museums that are listed on the National Register of Historic Places: Macon’s Hay House and Rhodes Hall in Atlanta.
