Mission Statement
Mississippi Blood Services is the only FDA licensed blood center headquartered in Mississippi. Our mission is to collect, process and distribute safe, volunteer donor blood and blood components and offer related services for our hospitals and other medical facilities to provide a competitive advantage in areas of customer satisfaction, quality, service and cost while remaining responsive to the needs of employees, donors and the community.
About This Cause
Founded in 1979, Mississippi Blood Services (MBS) was created to manage our state's blood supply. We service hospitals across the state, as well as some outside the state of Mississippi - like St. Jude Children's Research Hospital. We have nine drawing stations across the state with distribution hubs in Flowood, Greenville, Grenada and Oxford. MBS is licensed by the Food and Drug Administration (FDA), accredited by the American Association of Blood Banks (AABB), a founding member of Blood Centers of America, Inc. (BCA/hemerica), a member of America’s Blood Centers (ABC), and a member of the South Central Association of Blood Banks (SCABB). Since 2012, we have averaged 70,000+ blood donors across the state of Mississippi each year. MBS operates 12 mobile units, resulting in over 6800 blood drives in 2015 alone.
