Mission Statement
The mission of the Jewish Community Center of Scranton is to promote an understanding of and commitment to Jewish beliefs and values by developing and implementing constructive programs for the Jewish and general communities for their recreational, educational, cultural, emotional, physical health and social needs, while helping individuals appreciate their responsibilities as citizens to the community, state and nation.
About This Cause
The Jewish Community Center of Scranton (JCC) serves to be the Jewish and general community’s premiere center of adult and family health, wellness and educational programs. These programs strengthen and build community, family togetherness and foster personal growth while encompassing Jewish values, Jewish/Israeli culture, celebration and partnerships. Everyone is welcome to participate in JCC programs and services.The JCC is dedicated to its mission by providing programming year-round for all of its clients from children to seniors. Our programs promote healthy living and strive to nurture physical, emotional, cultural and educational well-being. We are proud to serve Lackawanna County and several surrounding counties. We have a fitness facilities and provide a wide range of wellness programs for the community. Additionally, we have an Early Learning Center that includes child care and pre-school as well as a summer camp for children ages 3-13 We offer innovative recreational, educational, cultural and social programs for youth, adults and seniors. Donations to our agency help us provide low cost programs and scholarships to those in financial need. Additionally, programs we run help seniors combat social isolation, provide much needed support with those with chronic illness, assist low income families so their children can receive educational enrichment programming, pre-school and child care.
