Mission Statement
The Western Pennsylvania School for the Deaf (WPSD) and the Scranton School for Deaf and Hard of Hearing Children (The Scranton School) prepare each deaf and hard-of-hearing student for all aspects of life through a continuum of high-quality, individualized education and extracurricular programs.
About This Cause
The Western Pennsylvania School for the Deaf and the Scranton School for Deaf and Hard of Hearing Children provide quality education and support services to deaf and hard-of-hearing students, regardless of where the student lives in the Commonwealth or the financial circumstances of the parents. The academic program offers a challenging, comprehensive curriculum taught in an all-inclusive communication environment, which spans the full spectrum from American Sign Language to spoken English. Deaf and hard-of-hearing children benefit from the specialized curriculum and small classes offered at the School. In the end, students are fully prepared to enroll in a college or university or to compete successfully in the employment marketplace.
