The mission of Children’s Museum of Pittsburgh is to provide innovative and inclusive museum experiences that inspire kindness, joy, creativity and curiosity for all learners. It forges connections with artists, community partners, and neighbors to work on behalf of children, youth, and families. CMP's vision is to transform education.
About This Cause
Children's Museum of Pittsburgh (CMP) serves the Southwestern Pennsylvania region through creative educational experiences and has developed expertise in sharing the keys to its success nationally and internationally. The Museum fulfills its mission by directly serving youth while lending its first‐hand expertise in creative learning facilitation and professional development opportunities for formal and informal educators. In fiscal years 2025 and 2026, the Museum’s work will be energized by its newly adopted strategic plan, which focuses on creativity and community. The Museum will refresh exhibits and programs through collaboration with artists and creatives, expand MuseumLab’s reach to older youth while serving as a platform for new ideas and conduct field-leading research that deepens educational equity locally and nationally. CMP will embed justice, equity, diversity, access, and inclusion (JEDAI) into its organizational culture, programs, exhibits, research, and partnerships. The Museum will expand its audience, board, and staff to be inclusive and reflective of the community. The Museum is a leader in accessibility and inclusion for audiences of all abilities and economic levels. In fiscal year 2024 alone, the Museum provided more than $500,000 in free and reduced admissions primarily through its Museums for All program. Through engaging exhibits, impactful partnerships, ongoing learning and research, and collaborations with artists on its North Side campus, CMP is committed to providing top-tier educational and cultural experiences to a projected 350,000 children, youth, and families annually.
