Mission Statement
The Women's Care Center of Erie County is a life-affirming pregnancy resource organization serving Erie County and the tri-state region. The Center provides a safe place of comfort, support and health to individuals facing unplanned pregnancies, youth making lifestyle choices, women in need of healing and childless couples whose arms ache for a child. The Women's Care Center is dedicated to coming alongside those we serve by offering truthful information, hope and opportunity, conveyed through professional and compassionate services. Our goal is to enhance the physical emotional mental and spiritual well-being of everyone we serve.
About This Cause
The Women's Care Center of Erie County is a faith-based, non-profit organization whose mission since 1982 has been to partner in overall community wellness and assist as an agent of change for emotional healing, character development and family stability. The WCC’s multi-faceted ministry is comprised of four Pregnancy Resource outreach locations throughout Erie and Warren Counties, which provide a variety of free and confidential services including pregnancy tests, STD screenings, PA Abortion Control Act information, ongoing life-coaching, childbirth education, newborn care, breastfeeding support and "natural parenting" classes. Diapers, baby formula, personal hygiene items and other types of material assistance are provided, depending on availability and referrals to other community programs and agencies are made. Our Medical Services office is able to provide non-diagnostic ultrasound procedures, STD testing and referrals to community services at two locations. Adoption by Choice is the WCC’s PA licensed adoption agency in operation since 1993. This full service agency led the way in open style adoptions in the tri-state region. Allowing the birth mother to design her adoption plan has resulted in many successful outcomes for all families involved. The Education Division (WC2Ed) was launched in 1996 as a prevention arm of the WCC. This division provides dynamic Character-based, Asset-building, Relationship Education – our CARE model! This positive youth development model empowers students to attain their goals and dreams while providing the optimal health message. Parent programs are also presented to support and empower family relationships – the number one protective factor against risky behaviors for adolescents. WCC staff produced an imaginative and fun K-4th grade curriculum entitled Carington’s Wild Character Adventure. This program is for sale online, and has been adapted for use in several local middle and elementary schools, as well as after-school community programs as a Service Learning/Mentoring opportunity. The staff of the WCC is committed to bringing hope and opportunity for positive change in the life of our community.
