Mission Statement
Northside Common Ministries operates a 25 bed homeless men's shelter and the city of Pittsburgh's largest Community food Pantry which provides for the food needs of over 1,000 households every month of the year.
About This Cause
For over 40 years NCM has operated both a community food pantry and a homeless men's shelter. In recent years a permanent housing program has been added as well as a day time drop in center for individuals who are street homeless and in need of showers, laundry facilities, a meal and case management. We also offer the community a GED class, help with utility bills, help with taxes, help signing up for medical insurance and a healthcare clinic for the homeless. NCM is a non sectarian organization dependent largely on donations from the community, corporation and the foundation community. Every year more then 450 homeless men find shelter at our men's shelter, over 1,000 street homeless utilize our day time drop in center, more then 1,000 food insecure households use our pantry each month and literally over 10,000 people utilize our utility assistance, GED, medical clinic and tax prep programs.
