About This Cause

We are an organization struggling to complete a museum in a beautiful stone structure that originates back to when our town was formed. There are very few grants available for completing museums, once a museum is established grants are available this is just one of the roadblocks are organization has run into. It takes time, volunteers and money to complete a museum. We do basket raffles, sale tickets on various items throughout the year and we bring the community together to raise funds with are special meals that we prepare. In the past year with these kinds of fundraisers we raised enough funds to put a new roof on the museum and now we are starting the HVAC system we started with heat in the basement and as we raise funds we will work are way up to the first and second floor and we are also trying a letter drive to raise funds for new doors and windows on the first and second floor each club or municipality participating will get a gold plaque in their honor. The estimated cost to compete these projects is 78,000.00. As to date we have raised $25,000 dollars for the HVAC system. We have collected many items through the years specific to this area, that can be put on display to help educate are youth that this area was once a growing community. On the second floor there will be a research room. And a place on the first floor to have local artist display their artwork. There is a simulated mine shaft in the museum to represent the hardworking miners that once worked the mines in are area. There will be a community room in the back with a kitchen to be used to bring the community together for various functions. We are located along the ghost town trial which will bring people into the community to go through the museum once opened. We plan on hiring staff and allowing local schools to host field trips to help enrich education in the local community.
