OASIS FOR ANIMALS

LANGLEY, Washington, 98260-1304 United States

Mission Statement

Oasis for Animals is an all-volunteer, 501(c)3 animal rescue and a non-profit public charity. We were established as a non-profit organization with the IRS in 2001 and located on Whidbey Island. We rescue mostly cats, and some dogs. We do not have a traditional shelter, but instead have foster homes. We often bring adoptable animals to mainland adoption events to enable them to find good homes. We work with our local animal control officials, as well as overburdened shelters, island veterinarians and the public to rescue and save as many animals as possible.

About This Cause

The purpose of Oasis for Animals is to rescue and provide shelter, spay & neuter and care for abandoned, abused, or unwanted animals; to treat the animals with dignity and respect; to place these animals into loving homes; to create public education programs that increase the awareness of humane treatment and the importance of spay and neuter of all animals; and to provide referral and assistance. We are an all-volunteer group, with no salaries paid, so all donations go directly to benefit the animals. We are a rescue organization and will provide assistance or referral to help animals in need in any way we can. Sometimes we are able to take an animal directly, but other times we can offer suggestions or referral to get the help that is needed so that animal can stay in the home. Oasis adopts out animals to loving homes and lists those available on Petfinder.com. We also focus on spay/neuter and partner with The FerL Cat Spay/Neuter Project in Lynnwood, WA. Oasis provides free transports for owned animals, (as well as feral cats that we trap) to The Feral Cat Spay/Neuter Project’s clinic, which offers low cost/free spay/neuters for cats. Oasis transported over 1,200 Whidbey animals for spay/neuter in 2019! We want to end pet overpopulation on Whidbey Island. Oasis has several humane cat traps for feral/wild cats. We will help trap ferals for anyone, provide the the traps, food, towels, expertise and also transport them 26-for FREE spay/neuter. We tame the feral kittens and adopt them into loving homes. The adult ferals are normally re-released back to the same place, but we also have a barn cat adoption program. We're making a real difference with our spay/neuter program! We work with other rescues and shelters to save the lives of animals that would otherwise be euthanized. By working together with other groups, we are able to combine resources and help many more animals. We can often help an owner solve the problem with their animal, so that it will not end up being surrendered to an already overburdened shelter and possibly euthanized. Often people just need someone to listen and point them in the right direction to get the help they need and we try to be a good resource. Because we pay no salaries, all donations go directly to helping the animals. We are thankful for all of our supporters and adopters, who enable us to rescue more at-risk animals, with no other options..
