About This Cause
Irvington Community Schools a K-12 tuition free public charter school located in the historic Irvington neighborhood. Which is situated on the east side of Indianapolis, IN. We first opened its doors in 2002 as a K-5 school with 115 students in its first year, renting space at Christ Lutheran church. Later, additional space was rented at Little People’s Prep, which was later purchased and renovated by ICS to house our high school and now our middle school. A grade was added each year until 2009, when ICS reached full enrollment as a K-12 school with 700 students on three campuses. We now service more than 1040 students K-12. ICS has been since its start a model of the charter school movement; over %60 of our students live within 5 square miles of the school, self managed, top performer in Indianapolis' Office of Education Innovation portfolio of charter schools and countless awards for education innovation
