Mission Statement
PlaneTree Health Library's mission is to guide the public to trustworthy, free, and accurate health and medical information. We believe that people who are well-informed about their health are better able to work with their healthcare teams, and better able to advocate for their own and their loved ones' health.
About This Cause
Through our websites and our public programming we connect people in Silicon Valley to the information they need to take care of their health and wellbeing, with a special focus on aging well, supporting family caregivers, and end of life issues. In 2020, we expanded to include in our online collections the most up to date and relevant information on COVID-19, and protecting health during evacuation and other emergency situations; another collection on better communication with health care providers is upcoming for 2023. We believe that access to information empowers individuals, families, and communities to actively participate in their healthcare and to advocate for their health concerns. In operation since 1989, PlaneTree Health Library does not take advertisements or charge fees for its services, and information provided is independent of any commercial relationship.
